加拿大央行年度金融穩定報告指，當地金融系統具韌性，但美國對加拿大的關稅及加拿大的反制可能損害金融穩定，尤其是如果情況長期持續。
報告指，持久的貿易戰對加拿大經濟構成最大威脅，並增加金融穩定風險，美國貿易政策不確定性短期可能導致市場進一步波動和流動性壓力，極端情況下市場波動可能演變為市場失效。
持續的全球貿易戰中長期亦將帶來嚴重經濟後果。 央行亦提及對沖基金對加拿大政府債券的敞口越來越大。
甚至購買加拿大國債拍賣中近半份額。但其大部分購買是由借貸支撐，使其在市場壓力下更有可能退出市場，從而威脅加拿大債市穩定。
